Second in New Series
"Working Dogs"
Talisman
Coins and the Perth Mint are excited to announce the second release in
the exciting new Working Dogs series! This extremely low mintage series (only 3,000 per breed!)
celebrates five different dogs and the very different jobs they
accomplish at our behest! Each proof-finish coin features a full color
picture of an adult working dog and a puppy. The Border Collie The
Border Collie is a dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border
region for use on farms to assist with the herding of livestock. They're smart - their
intelligence has been observed as having an intuitive quality that goes
well beyond basic instinct!Such sensitivity calls for an environment that regards their higher faculties and provides tremendous stimulation relative to other dogs; otherwise, they can become distressed. With this understanding, they are excellent companion animals. Border collies are often cited as the most intelligent of all dogs! The Border Collie Silver Proof is the second in this new and exciting series, to be released by the Perth Mint. Coins commemorating the following canines are planned: Labrador Retriever - Guide Dog Border Collie - Sheep Dog Australian Cattle Dog - Herding Dog Beagle - Detection (Sniffer) Dog German Shepherd - Police Dog With a mintage of only 3,000, the Border Collie will sell out quickly! St. Mary MacKillop Silver Proof
There
has never been an Australian saint - until now. And there aren't very
many saints on legal tender coins of major, Western or English speaking
nations, either. This new pair of coins celebrates the elevation to
sainthood by the Roman Catholic Church of Sr. Mary MacKillop, or Saint
Mary of the Cross, as she will be known.
Regular
Price $79.95 - Special SALE Price Only $74.95 Each! The First Australian Saint Born in Melbourne in 1842, Mary Helen MacKillop was a passionate believer in educating the impoverished and marginalized. In 1866 she co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (together with Father Julian Tenison Woods) in the South Australian town of Penola. Before long, many Josephite schools were opened throughout the remote Australian outback and beyond. After a lifetime of tireless work on behalf of the needy, she died in Sydney in 1909. Her forthcoming canonization by Pope Benedict XVI was announced on 19 February 2010, and is due to occur in Rome on 17 October 2010. This will make her the first Australian saint. A unique opportunity! ![]() This
gold version of the St. Mary MacKillop coin features the same full
color bust portrait, but struck in 99.99% pure gold with a proof
finish! With a mintage limit of just 2,010 (to coincide
with the year of her canonization) this will be a beautiful keepsake
for years to come! This incredibly low mintage gold proof of the holy saint sold out at the Mint on pre-release - limit one per customer, please! |

Australia 2011 Extinct & Endangered - Tasmanian Tiger Color Silver Proof

Perth's Hottest New Release!
The
Tasmanian Tiger sold out at the Mint in under 12 hours. Likewise, we
sold out of our initial allocation on pre-release! Given the extreme
popularity of this coin, we have a strict limit of one (01) Tasmanian Tiger per customer (name, address, email, phone, credit card, etc.) It
was a very sad day for our planet when, on September 7th, 1936, the
last Tasmanian Tiger died of neglect at the Hobart Zoo. This large,
striped, carnivorous marsupial was the apex predator in both Australia
and Tasmania for untold generations; today, nothing remains of this
truly remarkable creature except a few short, black and white movies, a
few grainy photographs, and a few stuffed skins. The Tasmanian Tiger resembled a large, short-haired dog with a stiff tail which smoothly extended from the body in a way similar to that of a kangaroo. In the name of wildlife preservation, we invite you to remember the 75th anniversary of the demise of an entire species with this pure silver dollar, with a full-color portrait of an adult thylacine and its cub by wildlife artist Rod Scott. You can read more about this unique animal and see historic photos on our web site - just click on any link. First in new Endangered & Extinct Series This coin is the first in the new Endangered & Extinct series from the Perth Mint. Like the Deadly & Dangerous series before it, this sold out in record time, and stands to increase significantly in value. We're proud to offer a few of these, one per customer, while supplies last! ![]() This
ferocious animal lets out its bloodcurdling screech on this eminently
affordable, pure gold 1/25 oz beauty! Long sold out at the Mint, we located a few in the aftermarket, and are happy to offer this great smallest gold coin to you! |
