Spoils from the mother of all European buying trips! We
have just returned from one of our biggest European buying trips in
recent memory! Over the next few weeks, we'll be filling you in on some
unique coins, low mintage investment pieces, and great buys we got! We
even uncovered some hidden quantities of some long-sold-out favorites!
Switzerland 2010 Shooting Thalers For
starters, we've got the scoop on the brand new, 2010 Swiss Shooting
Festival Thalers. We've never made a secret out of our love of
traditional design and aesthetics (nor of affordable, low-mintage
gems). The Shooting Thaler series displays the old European artistry of
the finest medallic engraving in spades! The 2010 design is this
beauteous lady, an allegorical figure portrayed in a classical mode
(more on her below). Personally, I like the lion crouching at her feet!Last year we offered the 2008 and 2009 Swiss Shooting Thalers, and were not surprised at the overwhelming response. This week we extend to you the first fruits of our European trip, the Gold and Silver Switzerland 2010 Shooting Thalers in very limited quantity! Swiss Shooting Festivals Calling shooting the national sport of Switzerland would be an understatement, to say the least! Today, the Swiss Shooting Association boasts 85,000 active, dues paying members! That amounts to over 1% of the total population! At a Swiss Federal Shooting Festival (a major event, held every five years), over 50,000 marksmen will convene for four weeks to demonstrate their shooting skills. Availability Note - The 2010 Shooting Festival Thalers were just announced by the Festival Committee. We are currently taking, guaranteeing and confirming orders now. We expect to commence shipment within the next few weeks, as soon as they are available. Thank you in advance for your patience! |

Switzerland 2008 Shooting Thaler 50 Francs Silver Proof

We have to admit, we have a thing for women with weapons! Be they girls
with guns, dames with daggers or sisters with swords, we've being
carrying that flame since we can remember - female empowerment indeed! This distinctive coin depicts the beautiful figure of a female Swiss archer, caught in the act of releasing an arrow from her bow. She wears a traditional, yet diaphanous and windswept, costume. Of course, this lady may also be interpreted as a barefoot version of Helvetia. As with the 2009 Silver Soothing Thaler, the total mintage for the 2008 was only 1,500! Make this alluring archer part of your coin cabinet! |
