Bank of Canada 75th Anniversary Allegorical Banknote Coins

These Masterpieces of the Minter's Art celebrate the inaugural Bank of Canada paper issues!
The Bank of Canada began operating 75 years ago in 1935 and was given responsibility to regulate the country’s money supply and to “promote the economic and financial welfare of Canada.” Accordingly, it was given the exclusive right to issue Canada’s bank notes. On March 11, 1935, the Bank issued its first series of bank notes.

These beautiful notes featured allegorical figures representing Canada’s growing agricultural, industrial and commercial prosperity on the back. The Royal Canadian Mint pays homage to these notes with 4 brilliant, low-mintage proofs featuring recreations of the originals! Each coin is issued with the same design as the identically-denominated bank note that serves as its inspiration.

Availability Note - The $10 and $20 Silver Proofs were just announced by the Mint, with a release date tentatively scheduled for late-July or early August. We are currently taking, confirming and guaranteeing orders for these coins now. The 5 ounce proofs are available now.

$10 Banknote featuring Goddess of Plenty$10 Silver Proof - Goddess of Plenty
Resting leisurely on a classical plinth and clothed in a very comfortable toga and sandals, Plenty holds a sickle in one hand. Her feet rest casually on one end of a cornucopia, while all manner of fruits, vegetables, legumes and grains spill forth from the oversize mouth of the horn of plenty behind her. This scene is taken directly from the vignette depicted on the back side of the Bank of Canada 1935 Ten Dollar Bank Note.

With a low price and low mintage of just 7,500, this pure silver proof is sure to be a winner!

$20 Banknote Design featuring Goddess of Agriculture and Farming$20 Silver Proof - Goddess of Agriculture
The $20 coin features the Goddess of Agriculture and Farming. Shown sitting on a large, undressed stone and clothed in a very comfortable toga, Agriculture holds a honey dipper, dripping with honey, in her left hand. At her feet kneels an agrarian farmer, who pours grain from his hand into a sack, while behind her a tree is burdened with ripe fruit. A sheaf of wheat and a low, stone wall such as separates farm fields complete the vignette. This scene is taken directly from the vignette depicted on the back side of the Bank of Canada 1935 Twenty Dollar Bank Note.

The $20 pure silver proof also has a low mintage of just 7,500, so be sure to get yours quickly before they sell out!

$50 Banknote Design featuring Goddess of Progress & Technology$50 Silver Proof - Goddess of Victory, Progress, and Technology
This huge (nearly 3 inches diameter!), low-mintage (only 2,000!) 5 ounce pure silver $50 proof depicts the seated Goddess of Progress, encompassing elements of Communications, Science, Communications, Innovation and Invention. (Intriguingly, she is also depicted as Nike, the Goddess of Victory, as indicated by the wreath of laurel leaves crowning her head and the lighted torch resting nearby!)

Resting leisurely on a large bench of cut stone and clothed in a very comfortable toga and sandals, Progress holds scroll in her hands, while leaning forward, tense and poised. In front of her mouth is an art deco style, Depression-era radio broadcasting microphone on a stand. This scene is taken directly from the vignette depicted on the back side of the Bank of Canada 1935 $50 Bank Note.

The $50 5 ounce pure silver proof has a limited mintage of just 2,000, and is only the fifth silver 5 ounce coin ever minted by Canada. Get yours while we offer this way-below-issue price!

$500 Banknote Design featuring Goddess of Fertility$500 Gold Proof - Goddess of Fertility
What could be more special than this huge (almost 2-1/2 inches in diameter), tremendously rare (mintage of just 200 !!) 5 ounce pure gold $500 proof? The mint have outdone themselves on this beauty which depicts the seated Goddess of Fertility.

Lazing languidly between the forked branches of a large, overhanging tree and clothed in a very comfortable toga and sandals, Fertility carelessly pinches a small sickle between thumb and forefinger. Her exposed breast and nipple is a fairly obvious symbol of Fertility, but more subtle signs abound as well. The swollen gourd by her knees calls to mind a pregnant woman's belly. The spread branches behind her (hung with overripe fruit, no less) and the bundle of hay at her feet are all understated allusions to fecundity and female physicality. This scene is taken directly from the vignette depicted on the back side of the Bank of Canada 1935 Five Hundred Dollar Bank Note.

The discriminating connoisseur cannot help but fall in love with this gorgeous coin, only the fourth 5 ounce gold coin ever minted by Canada! The mintage limit of 200 is even lower than the 2008 RCM Centennial $500 5 Ounce Gold Proof, which disappeared almost instantly at the Mint! Destined to sell out quickly, we recommend not delaying if you want this gem to be yours. It will truly be the crowning glory of your collection!

Regular Price $9,499 - Special Sale Price Only $8,799 Each!

Availability Note - The $10 and $20 Silver Proofs were just announced by the Mint, with a release date tentatively scheduled for late-July or early August. We are currently taking, confirming and guaranteeing orders for these coins now. The 5 ounce proofs are available now.
