 Treasure the military might of five legendary World War II tanks in this EXPLOSIVE 5-coin proof set, struck in pure silver! During World War I, Field Marshall Horatio Herbert Kitchener was Secretary of State for War, in charge of the overseeing the entire, massive British war effort. At the time, trench warfare in France and Belgium had resulted in hitherto unimagined casualties and a massive stalemate. In response, the British were developing a top-secret mobile weapon, code-named "tank". Upon seeing this newfangled, smoke-belching contraption, Kitchener derogatorily commented, "A pretty mechanical toy but with very limited military value." WRONG!  With
their devastating firepower, stalwart armor and speedy mobility, tanks
came to dominate the battlefields of Europe and the Pacific during the
Second World War. They not only supplanted and replaced the traditional
role of the cavalry as a fast striking force (as Germany employed its
panzer divisions during blitzkrieg lightning war), but also provided a
strongpoint around which the infantry could rally (similar to mounted
medieval knights). These mobile fortresses proved unexpectedly
adaptable, with flamethrower tanks, amphibious tanks, and anti-mine
flail tanks all providing noteworthy service.

150 Years of Mahler's Music!
Gustav Mahler was born July 7, 1860 as a German-speaking Jew in Bohemia, then part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. He was a late-Romantic Austrian composer, better known during his lifetime as one of the leading conductors of his generation. As a composer, he acted as a bridge between the 19th century Austro-German tradition and the modernism of the early 20th century. While in his lifetime his status as a conductor was established beyond question, his own music gained wide popularity only after periods of relative neglect which included a ban on its performance in much of Europe during the Nazi era. After 1945, his music was discovered and championed by a new generation of aficionados; Mahler then became one of the most frequently performed and recorded of all composers, a position he has sustains into the 21st century.
